November 3 to 6, 2022, the Secretariat of the Global Green Supply Chains Initiative (the GGSC Secretariat) visited Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu, China. Promote the implementation of the“The establishment and operation of the global timber index platform for building legal and sustainable forest products supply chains” (GTI project) and The collaborative operations of the block-chain-based timber traceability system for building legal and sustainable forest products supply chains”(BC project) supported by Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).

In this research activity, the GGSC Secretariat visited the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Management Committee, Heng Seng Timber Market, Zhong Lian Wood Market, Supply Chain Finance Companies, and companies that own forest concessions in African countries such as ROC and Gabon. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges on building a global wood information platform and conducting research on the traceability of tropical timber based on blockchain and explored measures to jointly promote the legal and sustainable trade of tropical timber around the world.
